This is a Florida worm lizard (Rhineura floridana), also called a thunderworm! While this looks like an earthworm, it's a burrowing legless reptile. The rings are actually scales and they use that flat snoot like a shovel. They mostly eat insects and earthworms, and are usually less than 12 inches long. And no, they don't bite! They're sometimes called thunderworms because they can get flooded out of their burrows during our big Florida thunderstorms. This species lives almost exclusively in Flo

Bipes: The Strangest of Creatures The genus Bipes is endemic to México and contains just three species, Bipes biporus from the Baja Peninsula, and 2 lesser-known species from mainland México. B. canaliculatus is found in the Balsas-Tepalcatepec Basin in Guerrero and Michoacan, and B. tridactylus appears to be restricted to the immediate vicinity of the Rio Tecpan in coastal Guerrero. Featured in the video here is the Three-Toed Worm Lizard (Bipes tridactylus) which was described in 1894 by Alfre

The Florida Worm Lizard (Rhineura floridana) is a rare reptile endemic to Florida & Georgia. This lizard is not only weird because it lacks legs & look like worms but, they have no external eyes! The eyes are covered by their scales! Florida Worm Lizards are just so cool! Arthur 🧒🏼 was very happy to find a Slow Worm recently! These native UK reptiles are actually legless lizards and are protected under the Wildlife & Countryside Act 1981. They are one of the longest-living lizard species, in some cases living for 30 years or more in the wild. Arthur has a deep love of reptiles, particularly crocodiles, and often tells us he’s going to study them when he’s older. He was so thrilled to find a Slow Worm, which has been on his bucket list for a while. 🆔 Anguis fra
