Feels like magic every time! Water soluble fabric is most commonly used as a stabiliser when embroidering on challenging materials - but I use it as a base fabric all on its own. It’s a temporary surface that allows me to create my embroidered drawing and then it is washed away, leaving only my skeleton of stitched behind. The washing out moment is my favourite part of the whole process. It’s where my embroidery goes from a flat drawing to a dimensional sculpture. It’s like watching the artwork
