We came across this simple and really fun experiement to demonstrate capillary action using toothpicks on this website: https://thestemlaboratory.com/magic-rainbow-toothpick-star/ It was really easy to setup using 5 wood toothpicks that we bent in the middle and arranged in a star. We then dropped a few drops of water in the middle. As the wood absorbed the water the star opened up. The water is absorbed into the wood fibers due to capillary action which is the ability of a liquid like water to

CAPILLARY ACTION??? Watch how science sneaks up on us—one tiny sip at a time! In this experiment, we show capillary action in a fun way as water magically climbs up the paper and spreads the color, making our flower “come alive.” It may look like a magic trick, but it’s actually science at work: water moves through small spaces because of attraction between water molecules and the paper. Proof that learning science doesn’t have to be boring—sometimes, it just likes to rise and surprise! 🌸😄 ⚠ D

KNOWLEDGE on Instagram: "Capillary action is the process that allows water to rise upward against gravity through very narrow spaces, like the tiny tubes in plants or gaps between soil particles. This happens because water molecules are strongly attracted to the walls of these narrow channels (adhesion), and they also cling tightly to one another (cohesion). When adhesion pulls the water up the surface, cohesion helps the rest of the water follow, creating a continuous upward movement. This simp

Scifactism on Instagram: "Capillary action is the process that allows liquids, such as water, to rise through narrow spaces like thin tubes or porous materials. This happens because of adhesion, which makes water molecules stick to a surface, and cohesion, which pulls other water molecules along with them. Together, these forces enable water to move upward even against gravity. This effect can be seen in everyday examples, such as a paper towel soaking up a spill or a celery stalk drawing colore

Fact Rush🌍💫 on Instagram: "Water can even rise against gravity… when science takes the lead.” This video shows how water moves upward through a narrow surface using capillary action. When a glass plate touches the liquid, water molecules stick to the surface and climb upward due to adhesion and cohesion. This is the same natural process that helps plants pull water from their roots all the way up to their leaves. If you love the post please follow my page @factrush.ig ♥️"
